About the Wine Uncensored episode
Jim Obergefell and Matt Grove of Equality Vines will be joining John Sporing, founder of A Life Well Drunk, for a special Pride Month WineUncensored virtual tasting on June 24, 2021 at 6 PM ET.
In our conversation with Jim and Matt, we will be guided through two of their wines:
- The Decision 2018 Pinot Noir (A portion of the proceeds from every bottle supports Lambda Legal, a national organization that uses litigation, education, and public policy work to advance full civil rights for the LGBTQ+ community and those living with HIV. Learn more at lambdalegal.org)
- Love Wins Sparkling Rosé

Note, A Life Well Drunk does not receive payment for these virtual tastings, but we do receive sample wines. We continue to do these tastings to help our winery partners during these challenging times.
We look forward to seeing everyone again soon in person, until then we hope to see you at the tastings, even if you do not have the wines!
Meet the Maker
Jim Obergefell, activist, realtor, and IT consultant became the lead plaintiff in the landmark Supreme Court (Obergefell v. Hodges, No. 14–556) case that legalized same-sex marriage across the United States. Jim’s passion for wine makes him the perfect crusader to ensure our cause is genuine and helps spread the spirit of Equality for All.
This June 26 marks the Fifth Anniversary of the Supreme Court Decision.
In 2014, Matt Grove launched Eighth Wonder Wines, a Sustainable wine company producing wines from South Africa. Building on the success and following a dream inspired by his late Aunt, Dr. Marilyn Schultz, Matt founded Equality Vines.
